I love historical photos.
I imagine the life of the subjects and what they are feeling. I love how fashion can give an image a sense of time or place. How you can see a little of who they grew up to be from your fiancé’s baby photos, as you imagine what features your kids will inherit. I love seeing our world in color, but often forget that the past wasn’t in black and white. I love how technology has changed, but a great image is still a great image.
To the left is three-year-old me, holding a toy camera in my pajamas. A lot of our family vacation photos are from the angle of a pint-sized shutterbug. This photo is part of my history, and my favorite photo from my childhood.
As your photographer, I’ll be making some of your family’s future historical photos. I’m looking for those small looks that you give each other that pass by in an instant. I know you will love your wedding photos as much in 50 years, as you do the day I share them with you.
